Austria is a great destination for your holiday in Europe. The impressive Alps in combination with a clear blue sky give you an instant holiday feeling. Austria is a great holiday destination in both summer and winter. In the summer you can enjoy walking through the green forests, enjoy the views from the mountain tops and cool off in the blue mountain lakes. In winter the mountains turn into white giants, perfect for skiing, snowboarding and sledding.

Read five of our favorite things to see and do in Austria below.

Hallstatt is a village, where you can't help but fall in love with it.

Hallstatt cannot really be described with words. It is a fairytale village with cobbled streets full of colored houses. And all this is enclosed by a clear blue mountain lake and the Austrian Alps in the background. Hallstatt is lifelike work of art. And when you walk through the small streets of Hallstatt you will discover that every house and every corner has its own charm.

Unfortunately, Hallstatt is no longer a hidden gem. Tourists have now discovered this beautiful village en masse. If you want to enjoy Hallstatt in peace, we advise you to spend the night here and enjoy Hallstatt in the evening and in the morning, when the large crowds have not yet arrived for a day trip to Austria's most beautiful village.

Vienna is the beautiful capital of Austria. The buildings, palaces and museums give Vienna a classic look. The many horse-drawn carriages and the classical music emanating from the state opera only add to Vienna's classical atmosphere.

With a population of almost 1.9 million, Vienna is the seventh largest city in the European Union. Despite its size, it is also one of the safest cities in the world.

There is much to see and do in Vienna. You can easily enjoy yourself here for two to three days. Vienna is especially a good destination if you like culture. Because in the cultural field, Vienna offers you an abundance of museums, theatres, churches and palaces.

IIn 2020, Vienna was also named the greenest city in the world. Vienna is therefore not only a city for culture lovers,  but also for nature lovers.

Are you planning to visit a lot of the sights in Vienna, than we recommend you to buy the Vienna Pass. with the Vienna Pass you get access to no less than 70 attractions in Vienna. EEspecially if you plan to see a lot of Vienna, you will save a lot of money with the Vienna  Pass.

In TIrol, close to the border with Germany, you will find one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, the Highline 179.  This exciting suspension bridge is not only made to connect two mountains. It unites castles and ancient fortresses with hundreds of years of history.

With a length of no less than 416 meters, this suspension bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. But it's not just the length that makes this bridge so impressive. It is mainly the height of 114.6 meters that makes this bridge truly spectacular.

And with that it is perhaps immediately clear that this suspension bridge is not a good attraction in Austria for people with a fear of heights. And we say that from experience. Although all four of us eventually conquered the suspension bridge, it was not easy and we cannot deny that one of us created a small traffic jam on this bridge.

The first few meters of this steel bridge feel very stable, but the further you walk, the more you will feel the movements in the wind and the movements of the other tourists. This suspension bridge is very safe, but halfway there could be some doubt about when the height and the movement get to you.

But trust us, it is all worth it.
