5x the best things to do and the most beautiful places to see on  the Costa Dorada

The Costa Dorada is perhaps the most diverse coastline in Spain. You can walk from a Roman Amphitheater to one of the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Dorada.

Making a choice from all that offer for 5 fun things to do is therefore difficult, because it depends entirely on whether you prefer a beach holiday or whether you prefer to soak up the history and culture of the Costa Dorada.

Below we share 5 of our favorite things to do on the Costa Dorado.

1. The Romans in Tarragona, history on the Costa Dorada

Tarragona is the capital of the Tarragona province of the same name. This city is a large collection of historical sites in which the Romans play the leading role. In this city you can see several remains from the time when the Romans inhabited this city. The main attraction is the large amphitheater on the water. A special place and definitely a must-see when you go on holiday on the Costa Dorada.

Moreover, Tarragona is also a very nice city, where the old center is very pleasant to walk through and to shop, with many unique tourist shops.

Els Ports Natural Park is located at the very southern tip of the Costa Dorada. Officially we can debate whether it belongs to the Costa Dorado. But who cares 10 kilometers more or less.

Els Ports is a large mountain range with all kinds of things to see and do.

This way you can go to the highest point at 1447 meters, 'Mont Caro.

Or cool off in the waters of Estrets d'Arnes and La Fontcalda, two beautiful rivers in Els Ports Natural Park.

Are you looking for a nice hike? Then ruta del Parrizal is a great walking route, which is also easy to walk with children.

In short, Els Ports Natural Park is certainly one of the most beautiful places on the Costa Dorada.

Ametlla de Mar is certainly not the most famous destination on the Costa Dorada, while the beaches in this small fishing village are the most beautiful beaches on the Costa Dorado

Ametlla de Mar has a rugged coastline with several bays surrounded by red-brown rocks. You can also walk along the coast from bay to bay, even passing a shipwreck.

The rugged coastline of Ametlla de Mar also makes this the best place on the Costa Dorada for snorkelling.

PortAventura is the most famous theme park in Spain and it happens to be on the Costa Dorado. How annoying.

PortAventura is what makes us comparable to Disneyland Paris. The atmosphere, the decoration, it really feels like another world. And of course PortAventura has great attractions, for both the little ones and the thrill seekers.

Are the rollercoasters in PortAventura not exciting enough? Then head to the nearby Ferrariland for a real thrill.

Are you looking to cool down? Then that is also possible at PortAventura, because in addition to an amusement park there is also a water park full of slides; Port Aventura Caribe Aquatic Park.

Is Salou beautiful? No actually not. And yet we think that Salou belongs in this list. Salou is in fact the center of all liveliness on the Costa Dorada. Here you can enjoy shopping at all the wrong tourist shops. You can people watch here while enjoying a cocktail at one of the many beach bars. Or you can do one of the many water activities. There really is plenty to do in Salou.

And of course Salou is known as one of those places where people go to drink and visit discotheques. And maybe it is. But it's also a great family destination.

If you do not want to lie on the beach in the crowds, you can choose to go to the beach on the right side of the harbor.
