Tuscany is definitely the most beautiful region of Italy.
With about half the area of the Netherlands, Tuscany is a fairly large region in Italy. With so much surface area and so many beautiful sights, it is almost impossible to see all the highlights of Tuscany in one holiday.
But what is the most beautiful part of Tuscany? In every part of Tuscany there are beautiful villages, towns, beaches or places of interest. In the north of Tuscany you can visit the famous cities of Pisa and Lucca, two of the most beautiful cities in Tuscany. However, the landscape in the north of Tuscany is flatter and therefore not as beautiful as other parts of Tuscany.
But as far as we are concerned, the most beautiful part of Tuscany is the south of Tuscany.
Here you can see the real Tuscany with the rolling hills and beautiful villages such as Montalcino and Pienza.

Florence is our absolute number 1 city in Tuscany. Florence is the capital of Tuscany and in our opinion the most beautiful city of this Italian region.
This Italian city feels like a large open-air museum. Florence was founded in the year 59 BC. As you wander through the streets of Florence you feel the rich history of the city. Everywhere in the city you will find beautiful squares, beautiful churches, sculptures and various museums.
Florence is the origin of Renaissance art. You can admire works by Michelangelo, Botticelli and Brunelleschi here.

It is the perfect city break destination for anyone who enjoys history, culture and Italian food.

The absolute highlight of Florence is the gigantic cathedral. When you walk through Florence, the Florence Cathedral suddenly pops up when you turn the corner. But also the Ponte Vecchio bridge and the Palazzo Vecchio are sights that you really don't want to skip during your visit to Florence.
San Gimignano is a beautiful medieval town in Tuscany. San Gimignano is best known for its special silhouette with fourteen high towers that rise above the city. These majestic towers are also responsible for the nickname of this Italian city; "The Manhattan of the Middle Ages."
This village on a Tuscan ridge with its fourteen towers immediately catches your eye when you drive through the Tuscan countryside towards San Gimignano.

Walking through the historic center of San Gimignano really feels like going back to the Middle Ages. There is so much beauty to see in this village. The terracotto roofs, the historic houses, the special murals, walking through San Gimignano is like walking through a painting.
Sometimes you have those cities whose charm is difficult to describe. SIena in Tuscany is such a city.
This charming Italian city is one of the most atmospheric cities in Tuscany.
In the year 1300, Siena was hit hard by the Plague and many people died. That is also the period when Siena stopped innovating. So when you walk through the steep streets of Siena, it really is like going back in time.
Siena is the perfect city to just stroll through the narrow streets, take pictures on every street corner and enjoy the views you have from this city.
Siena is known for its medieval appearance and the medieval art and frescoes you can see here.
There are also a number of sights that you should not miss when visiting Siena, such as the Palazzo Publico and the Siena Duomo, the church of Siena.
Saturnia is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Tuscany. A visit to this natural hot spring is truly a unique experience among the rolling hills of Tuscany.

Saturnia is freely accessible to the public and open 24 hours a day.
So you can take a dip in the warm water of the Saturnia springs all day long. In the summer, this bath is not really cooling, but it is still a very nice experience.

In the colder months, a visit to Saturnia is a real treat.
Val d'Orcia is really the Tuscany you know from the pictures. The rolling, green hills and the white roads lined with cypress trees, that's what you see in this area of Tuscany.

Lucca is a beautiful city, conveniently located between Pisa and Florence. This favorable location also makes it one of the richest cities in Tuscany.

The history of Lucca is interesting. Over the centuries, Lucca has been ruled by many different people. The historic center and the historic city wall are all well preserved, so you can still see many of the different influences of these lordships in the city.

Lucca is especially a wonderful town to just wander through. Stroll through the streets and enjoy the atmosphere of this not yet very touristy town in Tuscany.
Pisa is a world famous destination in Tuscany. And all because of that leaning tower that stands there, the tower of Pisa.
This medieval tower, which is actually quite dangerously askew, is THE main attraction of Pisa.
If you want to visit this tower, we advise you to be there early, because during the day it can get quite busy here and it is certainly possible that you have to wait in line for an hour to climb this leaning tower.

Young children under the age of 6 are not allowed in the Tower of Pisa.
However, there are other places of interest in PIsa that are definitely worth seeing, such as the cathedral, which is built in the same style as the tower of Pisa and is only a few meters away.
A walk along the banks in the pleasant city center of Pisa should not be missed during your visit to this nice city in Tuscany.
If you are a wine lover, you should not forget the Chianti region in Tuscany during your trip to Tuscany.
The Chianti region is a wine region that lies between Florence and Siena. It is known for the production of top wines, of the best quality.
The surroundings with the hills full of vines are a romantic and peaceful image when you drive through this area in Tuscany. The views are truly breathtaking.
And with all the wines produced in this region, you can also do all kinds of different wine tastings here.
Chianti is therefore a real highlight in Tuscany for all wine lovers.
Rome is not officially in Tuscany. But when you are on holiday in Tuscany, Rome is so close that you should not want to miss it. Because Rome is one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in the world.

In Rome you can visit the Vatican, see the Colosseum or throw a coin in the Trevi fountain. And of course just taste the great atmosphere of Rome (and the food).

So even though Rome is not part of Tuscany, it is one of the best things to do when you are on holiday in this Italian region.

Pitigliano is one of the tufa villages you can find in the Maremma region of Tuscany. tufa villages, are tufa villages located on a hill in the Maremma region.
These villages, where the buildings are made of tuff, look a bit surreal when you drive towards these villages. But at the same time it is perhaps also one of the most charming parts of Tuscany.
In any case, these villages are certainly a special attraction in Tuscany.

And as far as we are concerned, Pitigliano is the most beautiful of these tuff villages in the Maremma region.
When you walk through the streets of Pitigliano, you really feel like you are walking in an old Italian village, where time has really stood still.
The best time to visit Tuscany is from May to October.
May, June and September are actually the best months. You then have the nice temperatures, but not yet the busy tourism of the high season.
These are the months when the vineyards are already in bloom and the hills of Tuscany turn green.
