A visit to the “Catedral del Vi” had been on my list for a long time. I regularly saw photos on Social Media and I was so curious about this impressive building. Often when you have seen something on Social Media and you decide to go there, it is disappointing. Everything on social media looks better than it is. In this case this was definitely NOT the case, wow wow wow!

Catedral del Vi, El Pinell del Brai, was everything or even more than I expected.

This Catedral del VI was designed by Cesar Martinell, a pupil of Gaudi. He wanted to design a place that would stimulate the making of special wines. And he did. He designed a unique cathedral in which he combined different materials such as concrete, wood and glass, creating a very unique and perhaps even modern whole.

The ground floor consists of no fewer than 46 gigantic concrete wine barrels, each with 30,000 liters of wine. These concrete wine barrels are already beautiful and grand to see. The entrance fees of El Catedral del Vi, El Pinell de Brai

There is an entrance fee to pay. Adults pay € 5.50 per person for a basic entrance ticket. Children pay € 2.90. But this entrance ticket also includes a mini-tasting. You get to taste 2 wines for this and you get some baguette with olive oil and salt to taste. So it's actually a bargain, this entrance fee.

You also have an entrada deluxe. Then you can taste 4 wines and you get bread with olive oil, salt, and charcuteries. Next time I would definitely go for this, because I was quite jealous of the table next to us. Although that bread with olive oil and herb salt was really surprisingly tasty.

El Catedral del Vi also has a restaurant. Unfortunately we have not eaten here ourselves yet, but the locals say that the food is really delicious here. So maybe also recommended. In any case, the restaurant is just as beautiful as the rest of El Catedral del Vi, El Pinell de Brai.
