At the foot of an old 13th century castle you will find this large bay, Cala Sant Jordi. Cala Sant Jordi is a bay with fine sand. At the back of this beach are tall trees, where you can seek shade if the sun gets too much for you. On the right side of this beach you will find an impressive rock formation, which is also very cool to explore. And of course the fortress at the top of this beach gives Cala Sant Jordi a unique look that you will not find anywhere else in l'Ametlla de Mar.





Cala Forn, a nice beach for the little ones in l'Ametlla de Mar

Cala Forn is a very quiet bay in the rugged coastline of l'Ametlla de Mar. It has fine sand and fairly calm water. In high season you will find a nice chiringuito on this beach, where you can have a really delicious lunch. But of course you can also just enjoy a cooling drink.






Cala Vidre, on the other side of the castle in l'Ametlla de Mar

Cala Vidre can be found next to Cala Sant Jordi on the other side of the old castle. When you walk past the castle a bit you will see a staircase going down. This staircase leads to Cala Vidre. Cala Vidre is a bit smaller than Cala Sant Jordi and as the name Cala Vidre might predict, the water at Cala Vidre is crystal clear. This bay is definitely recommended when you visit l'Ametlla de Mar.

Cala Calafato, a hidden gem in l'Ametlla de Mar

Cala Calafato is another beautiful bay in l'Ametlla de Mar. It is a hidden gem in l'Ametlla de Mar. When you wander down the stairs you will see the white sand of this beach and the clear water, which is perfect for snorkelling, come towards you. This bay is definitely recommended.

Platja de la Llena is a small bay in l'Ametlla de Mar, enclosed by impressive red rocks. It is a pebble beach, so water shoes are nice here. On this beach, especially the snorkeling is really cool. You really see hundreds of small fish, and here and there some more special ones. From this beach there is a walking path along part of Tarragona's coastline. A very cool route to walk if you like beautiful rocks and beautiful views. This route takes you past 2 other bays, where you can cool off for a while. And as a bonus for the kids; you see a real shipwreck on this route.
